Childhood Memories

2024
Mother’s rug carved into oak floor.
10 x 15 feet

Rugs are typically adorned with sacred gardens and oases, and can be moved around the home. This rug is a replica of one that quietly participated in years of familial abuse. This piece is about covering up violence and exposing trauma. I strive to find beauty in peril and bear witness to the progression of ephemerality to permanence to loss.
